Hello Students and Parents,

As you know, all Mandalay students will move to 100% remote learning starting on Monday, November 16th. Starting on Monday, all students (hybrid and 100% remote students) will be expected to log-in to Google Classroom for live synchronous classes following the attached schedule. All students will have class periods 1-4 on Mondays and Wednesdays, and periods 5-7 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fridays will continue to be asynchronous learning with students logging in to Google Classroom to answer the attendance question for all 7 of their classes before noon, and completing work on their own. If your student is unable to log in to live synchronous classes due to illness or other reasons, please call the attendance line at 303-982-9800 option #1 to excuse your student. Teachers will continue to use their current Friday office hours schedule for students needing support. Parents can find this schedule on the Mandalay web page.

The school district nurses are asking for your help. In order to continue tracking COVID quarantining and testing during the at home remote learning period, that you contact the school if your student or family household member is exposed to someone that has tested positive or if your student or family household member become ill and will need to get tested.

I also wanted to ask for parents help in reminding your student of the learning expectations for live synchronous classes. Please review the following with your student:

  1. Students are expected to log-in on time for each one of their classes.
  2. Students must have their camera turned on during the entire class period. Students who do not could be marked absent.
  3. Teachers are using a monitoring tool called Securly. This tool allows teachers to monitor everything a student does on their Chromebook during class. Please remind your student that teachers will be monitoring students to ensure they are not being distracted from their learning.
  4. We are seeing many students being distracted by using the Google Chat feature to socialize with friends during class. Teachers will be using Securly to ensure students are using the Chat feature appropriately.
  5. Teachers will be creating intervention times in the afternoons to help support students. Please let your students know if a teacher requests them to attend an afternoon support session it is mandatory that they attend.
  6. Lastly, please remind you student of appropriate behavior in our virtual classrooms. Students who engage in disruptive or harassing behavior through any of the virtual platforms could receive school consequences, including having their Chromebook shut off for a period of time.

If you have any questions, please call the main office at 303-982-9802.

Thank you.
